Formed by singer, guitarist and songwriter Peter Case (who had previously fronted power pop band The Nerves), the Plimsouls began as a trio in 1978, initially named The Tone Dogs, which included Case, bassist Dave Pahoa and drummer Louie Ramírez.[1] From inception, the band quickly became a crowd favorite in the Los Angeles club scene.

Plimsouls, The. The Plimsouls, formed by singer/guitarist Peter Case in Los Angeles after ending The Nerves, were one of many groups sucked up by record-label power pop mania in the wake of the success of The Knack. Case met drummer Lou Ramirez in San Diego and when Ramirez’ longtime friend Dave Pahoa joined on bass, The Plimsouls were formed.
David Pahoa was in charge of special effects for the 24 web-based spin-off The Rookie, along with Scott Blackwell. David Pahoa started working as a special effects technician in 1997 for the film Dante's Peak. After that, he has worked on other films like Gone in 60 Seconds, The Hateful Eight, Red Dawn, and Deepwater Horizon. Pahoa has also worked on TV shows like True Blood and Alias.
