She’s starred in BBC1’s Bleak House (2005) and Upstairs Downstairs (2010), however, she’s used to playing characters that obey orders rather than give them. But her role in ITV’s Sanditon – based on Jane Austen’s final unfinished novel – has finally granted a lifelong wish.
Anne Reid wurde in London an der Royal Academy of Dramatic Art zur Schauspielerin ausgebildet. Ab Mitte der 1950er Jahre war sie als Schauspielerin im britischen Fernsehen zu sehen. Ab 1961 wurde sie landesweit bekannt als Valerie Tatlock in der Seifenoper Coronation Street. Die nächsten Jahre hatte sie zahlreiche Auftritte in TV-Serienfolgen.
