I definitely get more out of certain things from Maddin vs others, but the way he mixes such surreal, otherworldly atmosphere with a texture that manages to feel familiar at the same time whether it's in a ~10 minute tribute short or a full feature film continually leaves my jaw on the floor. It's so impressive stylistically each and every time.
