Judy Mowatt was born in the year 1948 in Gordon Town, St. Andrew Jamaica. She is an internationally acclaimed reggae artist who rose to fame as 1/3 of the trio the I THREE who were the Back-Ground vocalists for Bob Marley. At 13 years old, Judy Mowatt became a member of a dance troupe which toured Jamaica and other islands in the Caribbean.

Judy Mowatt Judith Veronica Mowatt, OD is a Jamaican reggae artist. As well as being a solo artist, from 1974 she was also a member of the I Threes, the trio of backing vocalists for Bob Marley & The Wailers.
15 nov 2020 · Popularly known as ‘Judy Mowatt’, or simply ‘Sister Judy’, she will be honoured with the Marcus Garvey Lifetime Achievement Award. The organisers lauded Mowatt for her “significant impact on the reggae scene”, both as a member of Bob Marley’s backup group the I-Three and as a solo artiste.

In 1985, Judy’s album – Working Wonders, made her become the first female reggae artiste to be nominated for a Grammy Award. In 1999, the Jamaican government awarded her the Order of Distinction for outstanding contributions to music in Jamaica. Despite these accolades, Judy Mowatt puts more value on her legacy as a benefactor.
