Otto Braun has since confirmed to the author that he used Hua Fu as his literary pseudonym. He disclosed further that other articles written by him, which had been published in 1937–38 in Yenan, had appeared under the name of his translator; in one case only had the publisher given, by mistake, his Chinese name Li Teh.
Otto Braun started his political career in Prussia during the Kaiserreich, serving as a member of the Prussian parliament from 1913 to 1918. In 1919, Braun was elected to the constituent National Assembly. Yet he became particularly well known and played a key political role as the Minister-President of Prussia.
Otto Braun (Ismaning, 28 settembre 1900 – Varna, 15 agosto 1974) è stato un politico, scrittore e militare tedesco. Iscritto al Partito Comunista di Germania (KPD), membro dell' Internazionale Comunista , negli anni 1920 e 1930 fu tra i comandanti dell' Armata Rossa Cinese e partecipò, unico straniero, alla Lunga marcia con Mao Zedong .
