2 lug 2004 · Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (Oporto, November 6, 1919 – Lisbon, July 2, 2004) was an award-winning Portuguese poet and writer. Sophia, as she is often referred to in Portugal, was born in Porto to a wealthy aristocratic family. She inherited the surname ‘Andresen’ from her paternal grandfather, a Danish merchant.

The latter includes this writing, dated May 10 th, 1975, which she read at the 1 st Portuguese Writers Congress.

Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen is a black-and-white 1969 Portuguese documentary film by João César Monteiro, then using the name João César Santos, about the notable poet. It was Monteiro's first completed film. [1] It is dedicated to the memory of Carl Theodor Dreyer .
