Edwin Stanton Porter (n. 1870, Connellsville, Pennsylvania – m. 1941, New York, U.S.A.) è un regista americano. Inizia a lavorare come operatore e meccanico per la Edison Manufacturing Company e ben presto passa a ricoprire il ruolo di regista.
Ciò avvenne, dunque, durante la prima proiezione di La grande Rapina al Treno, diretto, appunto, nel 1903 da Edwin Stanton Porter, prodotto dagli Edison Studios e considerato il primo, vero film action con connotazioni western della storia del cinema.
