Virginia Holton Admiral or Virginia De Niro (February 4, 1915 – July 27, 2000) was an American painter, poet and the mother of actor Robert De Niro. She studied painting under Hans Hofmann in New York, and her work was included in the Peggy Guggenheim collection.
Born in Oregon in 1915, Virginia Admiral was an American painter, poet, independent publisher and activist whose body of work straddled the fields of abstract and figurative art. Admiral settled in San Francisco, California in the 1930s, after studying painting at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Part of the New York School of artists in the 1940s and 1950s, her work was shown Peggy Guggenheim’s Art of This Century Gallery in 1942 and the Venice Biennale in 1947.
