Mortal City is Dar Williams ' second album, released in January 1996 by Razor & Tie . The songs "As Cool as I Am" and "The Christians and the Pagans" were released as singles in 1996; the former was also accompanied by a music video.

Cliff Eberhardt (born January 7, 1954, in Berwyn, Pennsylvania) is an American folk singer-songwriter. He is a founding member of the Fast Folk Music Cooperative in New York City. Eberhardt joined Red House Records in 1997 and has recorded five albums for the label, the most recent in 2009, 500 Miles: The Blue Rock Sessions . [1]
Dar’s vocals are strong and sweet and her guitar work is as detailed and delicate as ever, and there’s a good mix of instrumentation on the rockier tracks and instrumental and vocal contributions from Lucy Kaplansky, Larry Campbell, John Prine and Cliff Eberhardt.
Williams returned to her solo career with 2000's The Green World, and 2001 saw the release of Out There Live, her first LP recorded in concert. 2003's The Beauty of the Rain included contributions from Alison Krauss, Béla Fleck, John Popper, and Cliff Eberhardt, the latter singing a duet with Williams on the Band's "Whispering Pines."
