Influenced by Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Lou Reed and Japan, Numan hired Japan's bassist Mick Karn to play on the album. Dance is described as Numan's first true solo album, having previously been supported by an accompanying backing band on his previous albums.
Karn played bass guitar and saxophone on Gary Numan's 1981 No.6 hit "She's Got Claws" and other tracks on its parent No.3 hit album, Dance. In November 1982, Karn released his first solo album, Titles , just as Japan had announced their split.
Numan sounding much like Japan here throughout, even on the tracks that Mick Karn doesn't appear on. Great reissue that includes extra tracks and is spread out over two discs. Pressing is quiet and clean, dynamic, and warm sounding.
