Andrei Yakovlevich Sverdlov (Russian: Андрей Яковлевич Свердлов; 17 April 1911 – 15 November 1969) was a Soviet police officer, notorious for his treatment of political prisoners, who was a victim of the anti-semitic purge during the last years of Joseph Stalin.

( 1911 – 1969) The son of Yakov Sverdlov, first chief of the Soviet state and a close friend of Vladimir Lenin, Andrei Sverdlov was security service interrogator for several decades. He was recruited into the service and then almost immediately arrested during the Yezhovshchina.
