The film was based on the story, "Three Were Thoroughbreds," by Kenneth Perkins, originally published in the June 1938 issue of Blue Book and then as a hardcover novel in 1939.

Relentless (George Sherman, 1948) 7/10. A minor western not without charm. A man (Robert Young) is falsely accused of murder and goes on the run to find the actual killer. Along the way he is helped by a travelling saleswoman (Margueritte Chapman who is excellent) and is followed by a burro and a foal. Most of the film is shot on location.
