John Anthony Panozzo (September 20, 1948 – July 16, 1996) was an American drummer best known for his work with rock band Styx.

16 apr 2020 · On July 16, 1996, Panozzo was found dead in his Chicago home, victim of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He also had suffered from cirrhosis of the liver as a result of chronic alcoholism.
16 lug 2019 · He laid the foundation on every Styx album right up through October 1990’s Edge of the Century, and he was poised to join the band’s classic lineup for the 1996 Return to Paradise reunion tour until he fell gravely ill and had to bow out. Sadly, John passed away 23 years ago today on July 16, 1996. He was 47.

In August 1961, at 12 years of age, twin brothers Chuck (guitar) and John Panozzo (drums) first played music together with their 14-year-old neighbor Dennis DeYoung who played accordion and sang, while living in the Roseland, Chicago area, eventually using the band name The Tradewinds.
