John "Buddy" Bailey died on 3 February 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. Prior to his death, Bailey performed solo, choosing to work with established Doo Wop group The Calvanes (which included former Bailey-Clovers member Bobby Adams) as well as appearances with Jimmy Nabbie's Ink Spots.

The R&B vocal group composed of Harold Lucas, Billy Shelton and Thomas Woods – all were Armstrong High School students in Washington, D.C. With the addition of John “Buddy” Bailey, they now called themselves as the Four Clovers and began to make rounds by performing in local amateur shows.
