Sir Henry Bessemer FRS (19 January 1813 – 15 March 1898) was an English inventor, whose steel-making process would become the most important technique for making steel in the nineteenth century for almost one hundred years.
Enciclopedia on line. Ingegnere metallurgico (Charlton, Hertfordshire, 1813 - Londra 1898). Per primo riuscì a produrre in grande quantità l'acciaio allo stato fuso mediante un convertitore da lui stesso ideato (1855) e che da lui prende nome. Dal 1877 membro della Royal Society.
