Preston Ritter. Preston James Ritter (April 24, 1949 – March 30, 2015) [1] was an American drummer. Career. At age seventeen, he joined The Electric Prunes in 1966, and played on their debut studio album, The Electric Prunes, and two hit singles, including I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night).

Weakley departed the band after the single, and was replaced by Preston Ritter, and rhythm guitarist James "Weasel" Spagnola was recruited to make The Electric Prunes a quintet.

4 giu 2015 · Preston James Ritter, mostly known for his being the drummer for The Electric Prunes, died on March 30 of this year (I only just found out about his passing when I read his obit in the current issue of MOJO) at age 65.
Preston James Ritter born in California (April 24, 1949), was drummer, drum teacher and author of drum methods. He played on The Electric Prunes first album and two hit singles before being replaced by their original drummer Michael Weakley during recording of their second album.
