Tora-san Plays Daddy (男はつらいよ 寅次郎物語, Otoko wa Tsurai yo: Torajirō Monogatari) aka Torasan's Tale is a 1987 Japanese comedy film directed by Yoji Yamada. It stars Kiyoshi Atsumi as Torajirō Kuruma (Tora-san), and Kumiko Akiyoshi as his love interest or "Madonna".

Synopsis. A playboy-gambler friend of Tora-san's dies and, abandoned by his mother, his little boy suddenly turns up in Shibamata. Searching for the boy's mother, Tora-san meets a cosmetics saleslady and the three become a surrogate family, with Tora-san as "daddy."
Tora-san Plays Daddy (1987) is the 39th episode in the series where we see Tora (Kiyoshi Atsumi) taking care of a child, the son of a peddler friend, who shows up at Toraya after his father dies. From there Tora takes the boy to Kansai to look for his missing mother who is still alive in the area.
