Emphasis was placed on the very best instruction available. As the academy grew in size and importance, facilities for academic training became necessary. In 1961, OCS training officially came under the newly created California Military Academy (CMA) with its home at Camp San Luis Obispo.
California Military Institute is a publicly funded charter school located in Perris, California, which serves grades 5–12. [2] . It is attended by 1100 students. [3] . The California Military Academy, a/k/a McClure’s Military Academy or Oakland Military Academy (1865–c.1920), reportedly the West Coast’s first military school, was founded and led by Rev. David McClure 1, and opened January 9th, 1865. The 1870 census lists 5 teachers besides McClure, as well as 86 students.
