Meath, second of four sons of Garret Wesley (qv), professor of music, politician, and 1st earl of Mornington, and Anne Wesley (née Hill-Trevor).

  6. William Wellesley-Pole (1763-1845), 3rd Earl of Mornington and statesman, was born at Dangan Castle, co. Meath, on 20 May 1763. From 1783 to 1790 he sat for Trim, the Wesley family seat in the Irish parliament. He sat for East Looe until 1795 and then for Queen's county from 1801 to 1821.
