When the seven-month-old baby Elisabeth departed this life in 1528, Luther writes that the event has rendered him ‘womanish,’ reflecting his acceptance of the stereotype of women as easily giving vent to their emotions.
Born December 10, 1527, Elizabeth "Elslein" Luther is the oldest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther and his wife Katharina VonBora Luther. She lived less than one year, dying August 3, 1528 at the age of eight months.
