Malik-Shah I ( Persian: ملک شاه) was the third sultan of the Seljuk Empire from 1072 to 1092, under whom the sultanate reached the zenith of its power and influence. [3] Miniature of Malik-Shah I. During his youth, he spent his time participating in the campaigns of his father Alp Arslan, along with the latter's vizier Nizam al-Mulk.

MALIKSHĀH. Sultano selgiuchide, il terzo dei "grandi Selgiucchi" che tennero nel sec. XI uno e integro il territorio conquistato con Togrul Beg entro la parte orientale dell'impero islamico, mentre dopo di lui quell'unità fu spezzata in formazioni statali minori.
Succedé (1072) al padre Alp Arslān, e guerreggiò con successo a oriente sottomettendo al suo impero la Transoxiana e il Turchestan cinese, a occidente continuando la vittoriosa guerra paterna contro i Bizantini. Ebbe come fido coadiutore il ministro persiano Niẓām al-Mulk, che per lui compose il "Trattato di governo" ( Siyāsetnāmè ).
