    Shaham debuted as a soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony at age 10. He performed with the Israel Philharmonic —Israel's foremost orchestra—less than a year later. Shaham won first prize in the Claremont Competition at age 11, and was admitted to Juilliard, where he studied with Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang .

  5. Shaham's violin soars and sings beautifully and with lyrical grace. He never seeks to milk the music but, on the other hand, he doesn't play down the emotional content. The quicksilver music in the finale is dispatched effortlessly.

  7. The recording is excellent, bright and vivid without being harsh, and tangible while retaining airiness. Balance between soloist and conductor is also well judged, allowing Shaham a full profile without domination and numerous orchestral details to emerge clearly.
