Alexander Home, 1st Earl of Home and 6th Lord Home (c. 1566 – 5 April 1619), was a Scottish nobleman and Lord Warden-general of all the March. He succeeded as the 6th Lord Home, a Lord of Parliament in the Peerage of Scotland, in 1575, and he was created Earl of Home in the Peerage of Scotland in 1605.
Alexander Home, 1st earl of Home was a Scottish noble who took part in many of the turbulent incidents that marked the reign of James VI of Scotland (afterward James I of Great Britain). In August 1575 he became 6th Lord Home on the death of his father, the 5th lord. He was warden of the east.

Sir Alexander Home of that Ilk, 1st Lord Home (c. 1403 – c. 1490) was in 1448 Sheriff Deputy for Berwickshire, and was made a Lord of Parliament on 2 August 1473. He is an ancestor of the Earls of Home.

Alexander 1st Earl of Home. Alexander, 6th Lord Home, succeeded his father in the offices of sheriff of Berwick and bailie of Lauderdale. He was much trusted by James VI. and was very instrumental in suppressing the insurrection of Bothwell in 1592, for which service he was rewarded with the lands of the suppressed priory of Coldinghame.

He held the office of Warden of the East Marches in 1550. He held the office of Warden of the East and Mid Marches in 1557. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1561.
