Newcome's School was a fashionable boys' school in Hackney, then to the east of London, founded in the early 18th century. A number of prominent Whig families sent their sons there. The school closed in 1815, and the buildings were gutted in 1820.

Newcome's School was a fashionable boys' school in Hackney, then to the east of London, founded in the early 18th century. A number of prominent Whig families sent their sons there. The school closed in 1815, and the buildings were gutted in 1820. In 1825 the London Orphan Asylum opened on the site.
Newcome’s School in Hackney. George’s great grandfather, Henry Newcome was a pupil of Hackney Academy, as school began by Benjamin Morland as its first headmaster. Henry subsequently married Morland’s daughter, Lydia, himself becoming headmaster of Hackney Academy in 1721.
Henry Newcome. Died 1797. He was the eldest of five sons of Henry Newcome, the headmaster of Newcome s School at Hackney, an establishment which educated a large number of future members of parliament and other prominent individuals in the Whig interest.
