Didn't It Feel Kinder is Amy Ray 's third solo album. It was released on August 5, 2008. [1] Reception. Editors of AllMusic Guide scored this album 3.5 out of five stars, with the site's review noting the shift toward indie rock on this album and the strength and insight of Ray's lyrics. [2] .

In "Didn't It Feel Kinder," Amy Ray's third solo recording and most ambitious independent effort to date, the singer-songwriter's style and lyricism reflects her many musical influences, breaking new ground for avid Indigo Girls followers and her solo career fans alike.
In April 2005, Ray released the softer edged Prom, and in December 2006, she released Live from Knoxville. Her fourth solo album, the melodic Didn't It Feel Kinder, was released in August 2008. Lung of Love, which has more of an indie-rock sound, was released in 2012. Her backup band for her Stag tour was The Butchies.
