Leaveil Degree was born on 31 July 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He is an actor, known for The Whispers: A Song for Donny (1979), The Whispers: Can't Do Without Love (1979) and The Whispers: My Girl (1979). He is married to Tracy Hazzard. They have two children.
They began in 1964 with five, and had only one member change in 1973 of Leaveil Degree's addition due to Gordy Harmon's injured larynx. Then with the passing of Nicholas Caldwell and Marcus Hutson, they have continued to thrive with the trio of Wallace "Scotty" Scott, Walter Scott and Leaveil Degree.

The Whispers who have scored 15 Top 10 R&B singles and eight Top 10 R&B albums over their career were the first performers to appear on Soul Train when the show premiered in 1970.
As of 2021, the Scott brothers and Leaveil Degree are members of the group. They have won numerous accolades and received countless awards, including multiple RIAA Platinum and Gold Albums.
