Laughton, Stuart (1951-Present) He is a trumpet player born in Ontario, Canada, who joined the brass quintet Canadian Brass straight from high school in 1971. After remaining with them for a year he left to take formal musical studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
Stuart Laughton has established a noteworthy career as one of Canada's best-known trumpet soloists. An original member of the Canadian Brass at age 19, he rejoined the ensemble in September 2003 after thirty-one years in other pursuits.
STUART LAUGHTON was principal trumpet of the Hamilton Philharmonic and an original member of Canadian Brass at age 19. Before graduating from Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music he was appointed principal trumpet of La Scala, Milan by Claudio Abbado.
