Burton Roy Sugarman (born January 4, 1939) is an American film and television producer best known for creating and producing the iconic 1970s/early '80s variety series The Midnight Special, which served as a showcase for popular musical groups of the time.
The Midnight Special is an American late-night musical variety series originally broadcast on NBC from 1972 to 1981, created and produced by Burt Sugarman. It premiered as a TV special on August 19, 1972, and then began its run as a regular series from February 3, 1973, to March 27, 1981.
Burt Sugarman was born on January 4, 1939 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is a producer, known for Children of a Lesser God (1986), The Switched-on Symphony (1970) and The Manipulator (1971). He has been married to Mary Hart since April 8, 1989.
