  1. The Grove Park School (or simply the Groves School) is a former school building in Wrexham, North Wales, which was home to a school between 1939 and 2003. The site has been derelict since 2003, and was proposed for demolition by Wrexham council, until the Welsh Government listed the building in 2016 following a campaign to preserve it.

  5. Scope and Content. The Wrexham County School for boys opened in 1895 in the premises of the former Grove Park private school. The Wrexham County School for girls opened in 1896. A new school for boys and girls opened in 1902 and a separate girls school was opened in 1940.

    There were two architects attributable to Grove Park School for Girls. Walter Wiles initially had the site levelled, and drew up three sets of plans for the Board of Governors to consider. After the First World War, his son Gilbert continued the work, completing the school in 1939. There is no doubt that both father and son made significant contributions to the architectural fabric of Wrexham.
