Trama. Il romanzo si apre con l’arrivo di un ricco scapolo, Mr. Bingley, a Netherfield, una tenuta nei pressi di Longburn, dove vive la famiglia Bennet, composta da moglie e marito e cinque figlie tutte nubili e in età da marito. La signora Bennet è immediatamente eccitata dall’arrivo di Mr. Bingley poiché spera di accasare una delle figlie.
