Prince Charles d'Orléans, Duke of Penthièvre (Charles Ferdinand Louis Philippe Emmanuel; 1 January 1820 – 25 July 1828) was the eighth child of the Duke and Duchess of Orléans, future Louis Philippe I and la Reine Marie Amélie.
Under the Treaty of Guerande (1365), Joan recognized John IV as the undisputed duke. When John went into exile in England in 1373, Charles V of France named his brother Louis, Duke of Anjou lieutenant-general of Brittany. Louis was also a son-in-law of Joan de Penthièvre.

Propriétaire de Rambouillet, Blois et Amboise, il hérite de son cousin Louis-Charles de Bourbon (1701-1775), comte d’Eu, les domaines de Sceaux, Anet, Aumale, Dreux, Gisors et Vernon. À Paris, il possède l’hôtel de Toulouse (situé rue de La Vrillière, près du Palais-Royal), siège actuel de la Banque de France.

Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon (16 November 1725 – 4 March 1793) was the son of Louis Alexandre de Bourbon and his wife Marie Victoire de Noailles. He was therefore a grandson of Louis XIV of France and his mistress, Madame de Montespan. From birth he was known as the Duke of Penthièvre.
