Frederick Henry Eugen of Anhalt-Dessau (27 December 1705 in Dessau – 2 March 1781 in Dessau), was a German prince of the House of Ascania from the Anhalt-Dessau branch. He was the fourth son of Leopold I, Prince of Anhalt-Dessau, by his morganatic wife Anna Louise Föhse .
Leopold I, Prince of Anhalt-Dessau (3 July 1676 – 7 April 1747) was a German prince of the House of Ascania and ruler of the Principality of Anhalt-Dessau from 1693 to 1747. He was also a Generalfeldmarschall in the Prussian Army .

Leopold I was a prince of Anhalt-Dessau, Prussian field marshal and reformer and inventor of the iron ramrod. He founded the old Prussian military system that, generally unchanged until 1806, enabled Frederick II the Great to propel Prussia to the position of a European power.

Originally built for prince Frederick Henry Eugen of Anhalt-Dessau, it was later the residence of the Hereditary Prince and the Dukes of Anhalt. Today, the Dessau City Park is located on the grounds of the palace and its garden.
