Mortiis is an electronic band from Notodden, Norway fronted by Håvard Ellefsen, who is also known as the namesake of the band. The name is a misspelling of the word "mortis", which is the pronunciation used by the band.

On the debut album Selvmord, the musical styles of Vond were very similar to early Era 1 Mortiis, but The Dark River features samples and has quite a different melody structure. The final album, Green Eyed Demon is almost only made up of samples from movies such as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Deranged , accompanied by a dismal, droning music.
Mortiis has re-released Green Eyed Demon. Vond shows off a side of Mortiis' talents that should be highly attractive to fans of dark ambient music.

4 set 2022 · Around 1997, I was getting increasingly interested in industrial/ritualistic and experimental music (I also recorded VOND´s 3rd and last album "Green Eyed Demon" around this time, which has a lot of similar vibes, and dark, repeating, loop-based experimentation all over it), and this recording clearly reflects that.
