  6. 20 mag 2022 · Carew Raleigh was the second son of Sir Walter Raleigh and Elizabeth Throckmorton. He was said to have been born in the Tower of London and baptised in the church of St Peter ad Vincula, the chapel within the walls of the Tower, on 15 Feb 1604/05.

  7. Following Bess’ death, Sir Walter’s head is understood to have been placed in a cupboard under the stairs at West Horsley Place, reappearing in 1660 when tragedy struck the family and Carews three young children died in an epidemic.
