Miles of Aisles is the first live album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released in 1974 on Asylum Records. It is a double album documenting her concerts in support of the Court and Spark album with her backing band for the tour, the L.A. Express.
That night Joni Mitchell made a surprise appearance at the show, another bit of odd happenstances connected to this wonderful lady. Soon after returning home, tickets went on sale for Joni's tour with Tom Scott and the L.A. Express, which stopped in at the Merriweather Post Pavilion on August 24.
Tom Scott's career began as a teenager as leader of the jazz ensemble Neoteric Trio, and the band Men of Note. [1] [3] After that, he worked as a session musician. In 1970, Quincy Jones said of him: "Tom Scott, the saxophonist; he's 21, and out of sight! Plays any idiom you can name, and blows like crazy on half a dozen horns." [4]
By the time Joni and Tom Scott teamed up for her impressive 1974 tours, she seemed to have found the band capable of making her music less of a myth and more of a joyous communal experience. Tasty new arrangements: This magic is evident from the very first track of Miles of Aisles.
