Richard Sadler (born 1927) Weegee the Famous, Coventry 1963 In the 1940s, New York press photographer Weegee began stamping the backs of his photographs with ‘Weegee the Famous’. By 1963, when he visited Coventry, his fame was international. His trip coincided with ‘Russian Camera Week’ at the Owen Owen department store.

4 feb 2022 · Dr Richard Sadler was the official photographer at Coventry Cathedral, Belgrade Theatre, RSC and Courtaulds for many years. He also undertook arts projects, exhibiting locally, nationally and internationally, finding fame in particular with his portrait of Arthur Fellig, known as WeeGee, the American crime photographer.
AIIP FRSA 1927 – 2020. Born in Coventry where he lived and worked for over 60 years Richard took up photography as a youngster joining the thriving Coventry Photographic Society which encouraged his love of the medium. This early enthusiasm for photography then translated into a successful career as a commercial photographer in Coventry.
