3 feb 2007 · Symphony 9 from 1958 gets the biggest boost from this SACD, and I think it aids the dazzling vision from Münch and Boston. Lots of weight from the orchestra and space around the orchestral sound. Excellent!

Schubert: Symphonies Nos. 8 & 9/Munch SACD. David Hurwitz. Artistic Quality: 10. Sound Quality: 10. Charles Munch’s Schubert Ninth is my personal favorite performance. It is unbelievably exciting, with the orchestra playing as if its collective life depended on it.
