Tunghai University was established in 1955 and is the first private university in Taiwan . Located on the level plateau of Taichung’s Tatu Mountain, it boasts a beautiful campus and significant archite ctural landmarks, including the world-famous Luce Chapel.
Founded in 1955 by Methodist Missionaries, Tunghai University takes its name from a Romanisation of the East Coast of the Taiwan School. It is also sometimes referred to, even in its own communications, as Tokai or Donghai.
