Overview. The owner of a tavern is pressured by the local mob to go into business with them, and figures it's better all around if he does that rather than cause trouble.
The story is based on a LIFE Magazine report on the criminal underworld in Portland, and follows a nightclub owner who becomes a police informant against the mob syndicate that muscles into his business - but risks putting his family in danger in the process.
