Louise of Valois (c. 19 August 1515 – 21 September 1518), was the first child and first daughter of King Francis I of France and his first wife, Claude of France. She died in infancy, but was betrothed to Charles I of Spain for much of her life.
Louis was present when five-year-old Mary, Queen of Scots arrived at Henry II 's court to be raised as the intended bride and queen of Francis, the future king of France and king consort of Scots.

Born into the French aristocracy, Louise of Lorraine was the eldest of the 14 children of Nicolas of Lorraine, count of Vaudemont and member of the noble house of Lorraine. Her mother was Nicolas' first wife, Marguerite d'Egmont, who died when Louise was a year old.
