4 giorni fa · In 1953, Israel's first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, moved to live in Kibbutz Sde Boker. He came together with Paula, and they became part of the kibbutz, established on May 15, 1952.
She was an Irish gentile, and although Reform rabbi Joachim Prinz converted her to Judaism soon after, neither the Palestine rabbinate nor her mother-in-law Paula Ben-Gurion considered her a real Jew until she underwent an Orthodox conversion many years later.
