  1. 3 feb 2023 · But the fight didn’t end in 1970. In the 1990s, the name of the school was changed to Frederick A. Douglass High School in honor of the famed orator, writer, social reformer and abolitionist who had escaped from slavery to become one of the most influential men in the nation.

  4. To serve and promote the educational interests of the former Francis T. Nicholls, Frederick A Douglass and KIPP Renaissance Senior High Schools in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. To serve as a forum for alumni to maintain contact with the school and one another.

  5. Frederick Douglass High School, established in 1883, is an American public high school in the Baltimore City Public Schools district. Originally named the Colored High and Training School, Douglass is the second-oldest U.S. high school created specifically for African American students.

  6. On January 29, 1940, Francis T. Nicholls High School opened at 3820 St. Claude Avenue, named after Francis Tillou Nicholls, who was governor of Louisiana from 1877-80 and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Louisiana from 1888-92. It continued to bear his name until the mid-1990's, when the name was changed to Frederick Douglass High School.
