Welcome to the website of The Waid Academy, Anstruther.
The Waid Academy is a public secondary school in Anstruther, Fife. The school's catchment area extends to as far as Elie and Colinsburgh to the west and Crail to the east (the East Neuk boundaries) but accepts pupils from towns such as Leven, Upper Largo, Lundin Links, Kennoway and Markinch.
The Waid Academy was opened in September 1886 on its old site and is a non-denominational, co-educational, comprehensive secondary school with 670 pupils at present. The school moved to its current site in June 2017.
A loyal British servant, when the American War of Independence started in 1776, Waid a loyal colonist, was actively engaged on the Loyalist side. He lost his ship “Thrifty Lass” shortly after the war started to the rebels. He returned to his native homeland by 1781.

The Waid Academy was opened in September 1886 on its present site and is a non-denominational, co-educational, comprehensive secondary school. There are several main blocks of buildings at the Academy, each of a different architectural style.
