13 set 2022 · A prolific composer, improviser, and producer, Shipp also served as Creative Director for Thirsty Ear Recordings. Shipp moved to New York City in the mid-1980s. In 1988 he recorded his first album as a leader, Sonic Explorations (Cadence Jazz Records), a duo with Rob Brown.
