Canford School is a public school (English fee-charging boarding and day school for pupils aged 13–18). Situated in 300 acres of parkland near to the market town of Wimborne Minster in Dorset , south west England, it is one of the largest schools by area.
We offer a top quality British boarding school education achieving excellence for all our pupils across academic, co-curricular and pastoral care and are proud of our recognised position among the leading independent schools in the country.
Canford School was founded in 1923, but occupies buildings with a rich history stretching back to before the Norman Conquest. The first written record of Canford Manor is an entry in the Domesday Book in the 1080s.
Visit Us. The first step to joining the Canford community is to visit the school, either on an Open Morning or for a private visit. Both these provide the opportunity to get a feel for the school and its full boarding experience.
The Place. Canford is located in Dorset, South West England. The campus sits alongside the beautiful River Stour, with easy access to footpaths to neighbouring town, Wimborne, and trailways providing off-road routes to parks and beaches.
13+ Entry. Pupils join Canford from around 50 different schools each year at 13+, mainly from Prep Schools but also some from the maintained sector. Pupils come to us from schools across the UK and some internationally.
