Myron of Eleutherae (480–440 BC) (Ancient Greek: Μύρων, Myrōn) was an Athenian sculptor from the mid-5th century BC. He was born in Eleutherae on the borders of Boeotia and Attica. According to Natural History, a Latin encyclopedia by Pliny the Elder (AD 23 – 79), a scholar in Ancient Rome, Ageladas of Argos was his teacher.

Myron (en grec ancien Μύρων / Múrôn), né à Éleuthères en Attique, dans la première moitié du V e siècle av. J.-C., est l'un des plus célèbres sculpteurs grecs, bronzier [1]. Il est l'auteur de nombreuses statues d'athlètes, la plus connue étant le Discobole.
The “Discobolo” (Discobolus) is a bronze sculpture made by Myron in 455 BCE. The Museo Omero has a copy from true cast of a Roman marble copy found at Hadrian’s Villa in Tivoli. The statue shows a life-sized athlete, about 160 cm tall, who is about to throw a discus.
