Jimmy Ernst (* 24. Juni 1920 in Köln; † 6. Februar 1984 in New York, NY; eigentlich Hans-Ulrich Ernst) war ein deutsch-amerikanischer Maler .
Jimmy Ernst was the son of the German painter Max Ernst and spent his childhood surrounded by Dada and surrealist artists. Paul Klee taught Jimmy’s mother how to change her son’s diapers, and Man Ray was one of the first people to teach the boy English.

Jimmy Ernst, Abstract-Surrealist Painter and second-generation member of the New York School of Abstraction, arrived in New York in 1938 on the S.S. Manhattan. He was the only son of Surrealist, Max Ernst and Journalist, Louise Straus-Ernst; who perished in Auschwitz in 1944.
