Nicole Atkins (born October 1, 1978) is an American singer-songwriter. Her influences include 1950s crooner music, 1960s psychedelia, soul music, and the Brill Building style of writing. Atkins has been compared to Roy Orbison and singers from the Brill Building era.
Nel maggio 2009 ha iniziato a registrare con un gruppo chiamato The Black Sea ed il risultato è rappresentato dal secondo album, che ha un titolo italiano, ossia Mondo amore. Appare nell'album collaborativo Here Lies Love di David Byrne e Fatboy Slim (2010).
Nasce così Nicole Atkins & The Sea, un quintetto (completato da Dave Hollinghurst alle chitarre, John Flaugher al basso e Dan Mintzer alla batteria) che si esibisce regolarmente nella zona dell’East Village con la sua scaltra miscela di Americana, pop sixties e indie-rock.
