1 ago 1998 · A first for me for both. It had been years since I'd played anything on stage. Much less in a band, on a national tour. I have loved singing with Patty so much over the years - and one of my favorite projects of late is the work I did on Perishable Fruit. This Fall there are a bunch of dates where I open for Pat. I am so thrilled.
Led by singer-songwriters Jennifer Kimball (the Story), Ry Cavanaugh (Vinyl Avenue String Band) and drummer Billy Beard (Patty Griffin, Kim Richey, Family Jewels), the Cambridge-based group's debut What Matters pushes folk's acoustic envelope with a low-end sound built around Beard's subtly propulsive cocktail-kit drumming and Cavanaugh's baritone guitar.
