Furthur was formed by Bob Weir and Phil Lesh in 2009 following The Dead tour earlier that year. The other founding group members were John Kadlecik (guitar, vocals), Jeff Chimenti (keyboards), Joe Russo (drums) and Jay Lane (drums).
